HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL

In the spring of 1936 construction got underway for Holy Cross School. When the school was built it was ‘u’ shaped, but after the enrollment of students increased, renovation took place. Because of the renovation the building is square with a courtyard in the center of the square. A gymnasium and cafeteria were added,  along with the primary building in 1964. Throughout the years hallways and classrooms have been updated and we now feature a modern science lab and computer center.

The Sisters of Mercy served the school for many years. Currently it is staffed by lay teachers.  Many alumni have returned to the area to live and have enrolled their children in Holy Cross, knowing the excellent education and values they experienced will be received by their children.

The school’s current revenues only generate enough to cover approximately 55% of its projected budget.  Therefore, parish support is crucial to help keep cost in line without dramatic increases in tuition and fees.  Your regular contributions do help defray these increases.

These rates are for “Active and Supporting” parishioners.  An “Active and Supporting” parishioner is someone who has a parish stewardship intention card on file in the parish office along with “REGULAR” use of the Sunday envelopes and participation in parish fundraising activities.

If you are not a member of Holy Cross Parish, you are expected to volunteer and participate in school activities and share your time, talent and treasure with the school/parish community.

In an effort to encourage involvement among all parents in the Holy Cross School community, parents are required to participate in the Parent Service Program (PSP) and contribute a minimum of 40 service hours per year (single-parent families, 20 hours per year) and/or pay $4.00 per hour that is not completed.  Please see the attached information regarding the Parent Service Program.
