HISTORY OF OUR SCHOOL

In the spring of 1936 construction got underway for Holy Cross School. When the school was built it was ‘u’ shaped, but after the enrollment of students increased, renovation took place. Because of the renovation the building is square with a courtyard in the center of the square. A gymnasium and cafeteria were added along with the primary building in 1964. The Sisters of Mercy served the school for many years. Currently it is staffed by lay teachers.

Tuition for the 2008-2009 school year is as follows:

$2,073.00 for one child
$3,026.00 for two children
$3,312.00 for three children
$3,591.00 for four or more

Tuition figures are based on school families being active, supporting, registered Holy Cross parishioners. Cost per child to educate is $3,973.00; parish subsidies make up the difference.

Book/Administrative Fees are:

$175 for one child
$350 for two children
$525 for three children
$700 for four or more

SCHOOL HOURS

8:15 A.M. - 3:15 P.M. for grades kindergarten through 8th.
Extended care hours are from 7:30 - 8:10 A.M. and 3:15 - 6:00 P.M.

ACADEMIC RESULTS

Holy Cross students consistently score above the Archdiocesan Student Norms on standardized tests.
Computation Scores (which we had targeted for inprovement) have shown increases each year since 2003.
According to the San Diego Quick Assessment Reading Test all but 12 students in grades 2nd through 6th are reading at or above grade level.
In recent years our eighth grade students have received high school scholarships to Mercy, Creighton Prep, Mount Michael, Gross High School, Duchesne and Marian.
